Prereading: Do you believe we process information too fast? No. I think we will keep on advancing and we will never turn out like the people in the story.

Harrison Bergeron

Prereading
1 Equality is what everyone has the same rights. they have rights but are still protected by the laws. and also people should be free to use the talents that god gave them.

Harrison Bergeron is like the perfect guy. he was stron and athletic and he was gorgeous. Because he was so gorgeous the government had to hadicap him. they made him a little less gorgeous.

Harrison escapes from jail and he takes off his handicaps. Thats how he chalenges the government

Why does the goverment say thats equal when the government say they are equal when the government has more power than the people?

Why is Harrison flying near the end of the story?

choice book 4

The Sorcerers Stone is a symbol in my story. it symbolizes humans lust for everlasting life. Voldimort is greedy and will do anytthing to get that stone.

Harry's scar symbolizes a badge of honor. It shows that he survived a great battle with Voldemort.

Choice book 3

static or dynamic/round or flat
Characters-
harry- Harry is a round and dynamic character. He undergoes change in this story. in the beginning he is treated as the second best in the Dursly household. when he goes to Hogwarts he becomes a brave wizard who fights evil and everyone likes him in the end.

Mr. Dursley- he is a flat and static character. He does not undergo any change and he has one personality, which is mean. he is mean and unfair to Harry. Even when Harry does something good he is always mean and nasty.

Dudly- Dudly is a rich, young, spoiled, brat. I think he is a round character because he is a whinny, spoiled, and greedy. these are not good traits but there are many so i think he is round. Dudly does not go through any changes throughout the story so far so he is static.

choice book 2

setting: The setting of Harry Potter starts in harry's house. he lives with some relatives named the Dursleys. they are verry mean to him because they know he is a wizard. They live in a small quite neighborhood. they try to be the "perfect" family. they are preppy and strict. Dudly, the son, goes to and expensive school with other rich kids while Harry is forced to sleep in a cupboard.

Although i believe most of the story takes place at Hogwarts, i think this is vital because it really reveals Harry's past and the events in his life leading up to his new life at Hogwarts.

choice book 1

Book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
By: J. K. Rowling
i already know this book is about a young boy who finds out he is actually a wizard. he goes to a school just for wizards and ends up saving everybody from Lord Voldimort.
I chose this book because i saw the movie. I heard from some people that the book has more detail and tells a lot more than the movie. I enjoyed this movie so i thought i should read this book to find out what i'm missing and to see how the two differ.

A symbol is something such as an object, picture, written word, sound, or particular mark that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention.

the symbol in The Lord of the Rings is the ring. it symbolizes power.

irony- the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.

SHOWING exaples

Telling: I was excited.

Showing: It was was a beautiful summer day in florida. Bright, sunny skies and seaguls circling overhead. I Probably didnt notice that though because i was in line for The Hulk. The roller coaster towered above me. It was terrifying. I moved farther up in this near endless line. up flights of stairs and down hallways. I heared the roar of the coaster as it left the station. i was so nervious and yet so excited. i was finally there, in the front of the line. With my heart pounding i board the coaster. it was a wonderful feeling.

Telling: I was bored

Showing: It was just like any other school day and I was getting into my regular rutine. It was study hall and I remembered I had to type up some homework for my english teacher, Ms.Stein. I was so tired and could not gather the energy to think and get the assignment done. My eyelids felt heavy and I would've rather slept the whole period.
